I've used LV in my knives before. It didn't cause me any problems because I was grinding with a 2HP 3-phase grinder and a P36 alox belt. If you are set up to work G10 and hardened tool steel, wood's no challenge.

Sand with a fresh and coarse belt and slow down as you work up the belts you can get a fine polish out of it.

I'd add that a hard wood is not necessarily a resilient wood, so I can't tell you if it'll make a good slingshot.

I'd love to try a natural fork in LV though.
