Got a cheap little blade off Aliexpress. Its decent enough as a utility beater. No way it's D2 steel though... Holds its edge well enough, just not as well as D2 should.

I made the leather sleeve for my electronic key card. I carry it everyday to work and added a slip for the blade. I can call it my "letter opener" ... well, it's an edc after all

As I understand, you made the key card sleeve first a while back and then added the blade sheath much later?

You must have used curved needles or long pliers or some technique I am not familiar with for the stitching. I would love to know how. Very interested.

I would have used a stapler of some kind and super glue and then found a way to cover up my hideous work. :shhh:

Or take it all apart, sew the sheath on it and then put the key card sleeve back together. I can't see any other way.

Very pretty btw. Both knife and sheath..... neat EDC solution.

Thanks! I do have an older one but this had to be made again to replace it... Can't sew the blade slip on otherwise - has to be attached to the front layer first before the back is sewn together. Method is called a saddle stitch... lots of tutorials on YouTube!

Anytime brother! I was inspired by Aroposknife, a Russian knife maker that makes wicked Balisongs... he has a small damascus kerambit claw he puts on a money clip and that's where I got the idea from... You'll find him on Facebook and Instagram - I think you'll enjoy looking at his blades...

I just picked up leather working over the recent lockdown and I think it's a rewarding knowhow to have... lots of stuff we can customise for ourselves or replace.
