Made A Slingshot Today

707 Views 17 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  The Red Sombrero
It's been two weeks since my introduction post today is the first day that I had time that it was nice enough to go to the shop. I drew me a little slingshot and cut it out, I got lazy on sanding it and just hit it with some blue paint because I don't know if I'll like it or not since it's the first one I ever made.

I'll sand the tops of the forks some more before I put the bands on.

I told myself I wasn't going to buy a slingshot but I got so tired of waiting on the weather that I ordered a Hornet from Fowler last week, cost an arm and a leg. It's was supposed to be here yesterday but hasn't arrived yet.

I've got to find some bands somewhere still for this little blue one.

Thanks everyone! Shoots great I think, I don't have much experience but I got some bands on it today and put ten shots through it and hit the target four times. That's as well or better than I've been doing with the slingshot I bought. I think I could hit the target 80% or more if I shot at a regular size tin can instead of the small one.

Check out my scrap wood catch box, it hangs on the clothesline. I need to button it up a little more because a few shots get through it. There's a hole in the tray you can't see for the shot to roll out, as soon as I get an empty peanut butter jar I'm going to cut a hole in the lid and attach it to the underside so I can screw the jar on and off to collect the ammo by tilting it so it all rolls into the jar.

Thanks! It's a bandset I ordered from Simpelshot for shooting 3/8 steel ammo. It's 7mm.

I like your slingshot. And 4 hits out of 10? On your first time shooting?
You were born to shoot, Right on!

Thanks! It's my first time shooting this slingshot, I bought a different one a couple of weeks ago and I've shot it 50 or 60 times so I'm still brand new to shooting except what I did as a kid. I've been shooting in 10 shot batches and I usually only hit 2 or 3 if I'm lucky so 4 is definitely a fluke. Hopefully I'll have more time to shoot soon and get better, I need to make a better catch box or fix this one up first though so I don't end up losing all my ammo too soon.
