Hello,

who is using glass marbles as regular ammo here?

Lot of people are using heavy ammo like lead or steel rounds with strong bands.
Am i alone to use those cheap ammo?

I use my slingshot for plinking when i go out with the dog, and i find marbles very accurate.
My favorite targets are soda cans, and i manage to it them pretty often up to 20m.

I don't hunt small game, but i took numerous pigeons with marbles, generally while standing on higher branch in trees. So i can say they have enough power to take down birds, pigeon size.

The thing i learned, is that i have to lower the power of the bands, to avoid hand slapping, painfull, especially by cold weather.

I mostly shoot indoors, and worry (unfounded perhaps) about shattered glass.

Outdoors, it sounds feasible and I hear many other people also shoot marbles.

mate back in the day (1980's) i spent a small fortune on them,there must be over 2000 of them all around where i used to live!

these days i use lead ,works well for me and is cheaper than marbles.

if it works for you, do it!

Marbles don't make very good hunting ammo, but if you want to plink with marbles, they can be bought in several places for less than $2.00 a pound to a USA address. 5/8 yellow marbles are great for wing shooting as they don't fly as far as steel and are easy to see. They can be cheap plinking ammo. Steel when bought in 50 pound boxes may be had for under $2 a pound to a USA address. Since all I do is plink all I use are marbles, and since I pretty much use light bands or at least what most people consider to be light they are fine..I get mine at the local dollar store the bag contains 12 oz and costs a dollar so it's pretty cheap shooting...I do have to get some 3/8th ammo for my Flatband Pocket Shooter now the marbles are a bit too big.

in belgian competetion, marbles are the ammo of choise.
Indoor , 10m target shoot on rubber disks.
Low shatter rate, and good re-use of ammo, when we empty a bucket of 3000, we have to discard about 20 to 30.
Most marbles die when a chip breaks off by hitting a metal part of the shooting stand.

Also, marbles cost 60 eurocents for 100 when bought in bulk, in belgium.

I like to shoot at a suspended tin can from 15 meters with 1/2" marbles. I just buy them from Wal Mart in the vase section for $4.00 for three pounds. Reasonably cheap I guess. Once in a while they chip, but not too bad.

I like white 1/2 inch glass shot and 5/8 marbles are fine for plinking and for me all around shooting. I dont bother to kill birds or small animals with the exeption of snapping turtles, snakes, the occational rat if I can get a sure clean shot. I find that marbles are just as devistating as steel ball. I favor Tex's Xpress Bands and never a hand slap. They are Xtremly Fast and render a terrific impact. I dont use anthing else anymore. My quest for the perfect band has finally ended.
