My Fork openings are one inch and it works fine for me and never a Fork Hit. It may depend on your style of shooting. Some Folks need a wide opening which may involve Gangsta Style of shooting.

If you're flipping then it doesn't much matter. If shooting between forks maybe 4". Someone like King Cat would have the perfect answers. Check his website.

Stu, are yiu referring to your slingshot telescope? In this case I do recommend a wide fork. The Novitzkenegger shows that problem, too.

a) you can not flip a slingshot crossbow
you will have a lot of rubber on a long slingshot. This will hit the fork if it is too narrow, and bunch up. Bad for the rubber, and a brutal impact onto the fork arms too.

If you are talking about a normal handheld slingshot, if you flip then no fork at all is needed, as my video shows. A piece of wood, three inches wide and one inch thick, is enough. Just round it well.
