I've been playing with knives since my first in 1968 and carried one every day since with the exception of that 9/11 madness and the brilliance of TSA when I had to travel for work.
Anyway. I've got a couple of blades that were perfect to explore a Forced Patina treatment. I wasn't familiar with this until this Forum so I grabbed everything in the house to give it a whirl.
The Opinal did have some rust and little bit of pitting as I kept it on the boat. The Svord was a perfect 'collectors' piece that I got tired of keeping it pristine. I worked the handle down, oiled some color into it, knocked a sliver of wood driving the guide pin back into the handle, backfilled that was some brown epoxy, went patina silly and then Wallah....a shelf queen no more!
Thanks again to the Forum for keeping it real! Mo
