My first homemade slingshot

Pretty basic design. Just cut to size , used a rasp and files to clean it up and out in finger slot grips. Not sure what I want to do the rest of the way. May leave the under bark on there for color. Deciding if I want to stain or just clear coat.

Made this to be a smaller pocket shooter:

I would like to see it banded and shot like it is, maybe for the next 5 years or so.

Lets let the oils of your hands and dirt from the use of work make its mark . Like a pare of old leather work boots or gloves.

At this point you couldnt go wrong.

Band it and shoot it, then report back to base, solder !

Got it banded up. Only have flats on hand but will try it out and maybe try tubes. Feels great when I draw it back! Can't wait to shoot it tomorrow. BTW these are 0.65 Precise flatbands. Definitely feel heavier than the stock ones that came on my Scout.

Let me know how she shoots.

Im going to suggest next one cutting the forks flat across the top with each other. This will give you a constant more even band pull. Its not to late for this beautiful beast though, if you wanted to give her a trim.

Pull her bands back for me a few times.

Sorry I didnt say anything about the fork tips earlier. the picture on my phone was small., and I was distracted with the awesome ergo finger grips and thinking how the leftover bark will add a natural feel and much appreciated grip/texture.

Nice, I do a lot of finger groove naturals myself, and like that you left some bark on for color.

I personally would sand to at least 320, maybe 600, then put BLO or maybe Danish oil followed by a couple coats of Johnson paste wax, then buff and shoot

Great work. When are you going to start another one it looks lonely and needs a partner or two.

So much satisfaction in the 'first', especially when you can ring the bell with it. My first was a little weird. To the point that my wife uses it to massage the soles of her feet.

Had to try her out this morning before work. Only got ten down range but I think we got a shooter boys! I normally shoot TTF and the bands are different than I usually shoot but it shoots pretty good for the first try out.

I would say if you like the coloring the way it is. I would use Danish Oil, or Linseed oil follow up with bees wax to act as a protector from the elements. Other than that looks great.

Thats plenty stonky
Have no idea what stonky means.

If you mean stocky, yes! It is.

But I have wide hands. I'm short but my hands are as wide as a lot of big guys.

Beefy - strong - burly...
Well makes sense. It's basically built like me. If I were a dog I'd be bulldog.....

Drooling, snorting and dislike of long distances , and all.
