Hi everybody

After my first custom I made of aluminium and micarta ten days ago, I just finished my first natural wich is made of oak.
I dryed the fork with the microwave method. Then I did finish with linseed oil.
As I am an amateur sailor, I like making decorative knots. I thought it would be a good way to give some thickness to the handle of this tiny slingshot.
If someone wants to know how to make this knot I can scan the page of my guidebook (in french but with pictures).
I will put some theraband gold and test it tomorow.

@torsten
thank you, I appreciate your compliments ! Your videos made me want to try butterfly style.
Do you think this slingshot with some theraband gold could be suitable to try butterfly style ?

@lucifer93
I just found a link where you can see the pictures and explanations extracted from the book I used: My link
I can not find the exact name of this knot in english. It's similar but not actually the same as "turk head knot"
It's quite difficult to do so I recomend to begin with a more simple knot like "turk head" and to train

here are some links in english:

Yes Ronan, I think you can try albatros-style with this catty. Most of my naturals have this size too.
Are you a bit experienced in this style?
If not, take for the first try a wider catty. It would prevent this beauty from forkhits!
The only things you have to do is not to cant the catty, to flip the catty after every release and to draw the band more than around 400%. This will protect you from fork hits!

Regards
Torsten

Hi lucifer93,
I didn't use any tool to make my knot. I used exactly the method from the french web page linked above. I only used a forceps to pull strands. I think the pvc pipe trick can help a lot.

Ronan, that's an awesome little shooter. I tried doing some fancy wrapping recently but it kept trying to slip off the handle. I ended up removing it and wrapping with inner-tube rubber which didn't look as good but works awesome.
Real nice finish work on that fork, too!

Turks Head.

Anyone interested in ropework should get The Ashley Book of Knots. It's a bit pricey but worth it's weight in gold.
