So as my shooting is coming together, I noticed that as I go into auto pilot mode, my shooting becomes much smoother, more accurate and quicker to get the shot off. I was curious as to how long it was taking me to get an accurate shot on target, so I had my nephew time me. Starting from a low ready position (hands at waist), I instructed him to start the timer as soon as I began to raise my hands and to stop the timer when he heard the target get hit. I didn't want him to try to stop it at just my shot because he could react to either the release or some time after that. Plus I only planned to record shots that landed on target. If I was just going for sheer speed, I could get the shots off much quicker. So from ready position, to raising the frame, drawing, anchoring, aiming, releasing and hitting a soda can, my average for 10 consecutive shots was 1.946 seconds!

Anyone else time their shot sequence?

Never timed it but I imagine I’m about double that. I mess around with form a lot lately so preshot I got a checklist to go through. I changed my pouch hold because was having a hard time getting rid of speed bump completely and I changed the way I pull the bands back. Instead of holding mid index I now hold with the tip. Lately making sure I pull the bands back super evenly to get a good set on the forks. I think I’m settled on this though. So hopefully the process becomes second nature soon.

I think I'd be around or slightly more than 3 seconds. But loading for me is like watching grass grow. A lot of you younger guys probably don't know that when you get older, the skin on your fingers gets smoother and smoother. Hanging on to ammo long enough to get it in the pouch is getting a little iffy. I like that old rusted pitted stuff.
