My hand is finally starting to get better (6 months later) so, I'm getting back to building some flips. Slowly working away as to not get any setbacks.

I hand carved this oak natty and sanded it to 400...I was initially planning to do a tru-oil finish, but decided to see what BLO would look like so i applied one coat at this point. I like using tru-oil because it can be built up to a high gloss, and it's a really durable finish that protects from dings and scratches, but oil feels more natural...less slippery...normally I sand to 2000, but I ran out of 600 and 800 sandpaper...that was another reason for considering tru-oil...to build up a nice glossy finish. I'm now thinking after a half dozen coats of blo and a good buff with a cotton shirt, it might look pretty good anyways.

Let me know what you think please. Constructive criticism is welcomed and appreciated

I don't know your history bro, What happened to your hand? All I know is your a Veteran Slingshooter and have a you tube channel.

Thank's for showing the pouches. it inspired me to make my own. Tough as nails, laminated micro fibre, work overalls and a pouch die with contact adhesive.

Salutations PK.

Thanks man...glad to have helped in some way.

I had trigger finger release surgery on Feb 4th...and the surgeon botched it. Complications have been pretty bad...excessive swelling and pain...now I have arthritis in my large knuckle, that wasnt in it before. Been a rough experience to say the least. Just had another doctor inform me that the surgeon didn't even fix the issue. He just messed up my hand.

A very nice looking natural you've made there! Oak is outstanding wood.

Are you sure that it is indeed arthritis you are dealing with? Two of my family members had issues with what is known as Sudek's Atrophy:

Well worth looking into if you are having issues regaining full and free movement of the affected hand. If ever. Calcitonin is one of the possible treatments:

"Medications[edit]

Tentative evidence supports the use of bisphosphonates, calcitonin, and ketamine."

Hope it heals fully soon.
