Hi! I am an old beanshooter guy but brand new to the slingshot if you know what I mean. I still hit better with rocks than I do with those little round steel balls. Not sure why, something to do with weight, I suppose. I saw somewhere else on these forums that somebody was wondering how you hit with rocks. Number one, any shape but flat. Don't have to be round, just not flat. Choose them on how the weight feels more than on the shape. I hope as soon as I get used to each ball being EXACTLY the same weight, I will do a little better. That and getting used to a smaller pouch. I shoot natural forks so far, tied up like Rufus Hussey used to tie them. Gum rubber bands, 3/8 inch wide and 1/16 inch thick.

Yep, I also rock sometimes. I live close to the seashore so I can go down and collect nice smooth ammo quite easily. My personal preference is for the ones that are about marble sized or a bit less. A couple of my several different slingshots shoot them really great and best of all they're free! There's just something Old School Cool about shooting with rocks.

Welcome :)
I'm a rock shooter also when I'm gold mining. My little mini trommell classifies everything +1/4" to -1/2" through that screen into the white bucket. Then I just pick through the pebbles for the best ammo by the bucket.
