I have been reading about slingshots all day on the web.

If you go to google search page, look at the top of the page then click more, and then books.
When that page opens under the search box click advanced search.
Then type in slingshot where it says with all the words and then check the box for magazines.
then hit search

there are alot of old articals in popular mechanics that make good reading.
The oldest i saw was from june 1917 a new patent on a metal slingshot

It takes some looking around but well worth it. if you like reading about old stuff.

Hope you enjoy this Steve

Wow, thanks for the tip Steve, glad to gave you around...Welcome to the SSF!

Here are a few links to some of the good articles among the masses of them for those that aren't very computer savvy. There are a lot more out there, these are just some on the first 3 or 4 pages that I browsed through. There are some really neat things in some of the magazines from the past. And to think, look how far we've came, yet the old stuff never stopped working

There's a bit about the Wham-O slingshot in this one

Again, thanks for the heads up, I hope I helped at least someone out with the links.

Very cool Steve and John, in the last link, notice the over the top bands and a pretty cool sighting system (if it works?). He also shoots with the forks upright and a hammer grip. Neat stuff. Thanks for the links.

Glad you like the links. I love old stuff like this when i was a kid someone gave me a huge box of old popular mechanics magazines from the 40s and 50s.
I spent weeks going through them.
