Ummm. For several years I have raked my fork limbs to the rear and beveled the tops back so the band always pivots off the front edge of the fork tip. Because: Flat tops caused me fork hits. Round tops pulled the bands down in front and slapped my hand. I want to recall I read about this somewhere. God forbid I should try to take credit for it. But I don't slap my hand or shoot myself anymore. JMHO
Nice experience and details! Yes, I'm thinking the angled top is the best of all designs, with the rubber just touching the front tip, with a slope towards the rear.
I’m with Reed on this one. Since I use tapered bands they almost never break at the fork tip unless there’s a defect. If I get hand slap I either try and pull my bands as Bill Hays suggests with the Ranger recurve or I, and I know it’s the cheap way out lol, go in and get some bigger ammo.
Good question and great answers too!
My frames are usually angled from the front by a mm or two. Unless I forget.
Not sure it is really noticable in shooting. Might be a lack of shooting skill......
My (tapered) bands always fail at the pouch just as Reed noted above.
I know the bands always break at the pouches, I hate to see premature wears on the bands front!
