Was messing around this afternoon with cutting some palm swell material from some small log sections, clamping them tightly to my workbench, using a short rip saw.

Yeah Q, knew it was eaten up inside, was just trying to get the most use of it I could so as not to be wasteful.
I picked up a large limb of it off the side of the road so not sure ....bark looks like Cherry but don't think it is.

LOL Ray, you can bet I would NOT be filling that groove with my precious and expensive Turquoise.

I tried one of those long quick grip clamps first, but couldn't get it clamped tight enough, so switched to the tried and true bar clamp.

That’s the way I cut into giant forks except I use a big saz-all. The real pretty stuff is down in the middle.

Yeeoow! Now that's a bore hole. Kinda niffty though, You could stick a critter like a praying mantis down in there then fill it up with resin! Might be cool.

Yes, there's a big difference between a 10 and a 14. I managed to score a 14" old cast one last summer and I use it for everything. It weighs about 400 pounds but man does it cut nice.
