Hello, all!
I’ve decided that partially fabricating a hefty portable catch box is a worthwhile endeavor for me and Chris Graffin, so we’re going to give it a go! Yay! Here’s the plan:
The photo below shows a skeletonized PVC cube used to hold the target(s) and mesh fabric in a catch box I found on Amazon. I’m going to use this design, but I’m going to replace the PVC pipe with aluminum pipe to increase structural integrity and durability of the catch box. Amazon sells ballistics mesh material, and I’m going buy some of that for the backstop material (i.e, the fabric that actually “catches” the shot). I’m thinking two layers should do nicely.
I haven’t located a source for the outer fabric yet, but I’m thinking some military-grade, heavyweight canvas material should work. I’ll have to shop around to find something pleasing to the eye as well.
Thats pretty much the fabrication in a nutshell.
We will be offering adjustable tripod stands with trays large enough to seat the catch boxes comfortably (and safely). However, we won’t need to fabricate these ourselves.
Let me know if you have any suggestions or requests! I’d love to implement some of your feedback into the final product!
Best wishes,
Wes
