I'm after a little portable catch box I can take out camping with me. Does anyone know of any good commercial ones? All the ones I've found have terrible reviews. Or does any one have any good ideas to make one, ideally It could be folded up or collapsed, I was using a hanging blanket but It doesn't do a great job of catching ammo and I keep shooting through it !

I haven't tried any of the commercial ones, but member Covert5 has a portable catchbox he made from a backpack that looks like it works really well. Extremely portable. Here's a post he shows a video of it in action. Best part is you might already own everything you need to make one

Those folding nylon mesh catch boxes sold on eBay and Aliexpress are not bad.

If you're going camping I would suggest ditching the catch box and getting a bunch of clay ammo.

Cardboard box? Collapsable and even recyclable.

Also look at collapsable washing baskets, pop-up photo desk top booths etc.

How about a 5 gallon bucket? cut out one side, string some paracord across to hang your backstop rags and 1 or 2 cords down from the lid to hang cans.

As long as you're not bouncing your steels through the material against the wire frame they do the job and I've used them in all weathers. Here that's usually wet weather lol

When I go camping I just hang an old towel on a branch or on the back of a lawn chair. I put another old towel on the ground underneath and a magnet to pick up ammo. I always have spring clamps and some paracord to hang targets.

When I go out and about I carry a 10" loop of paracord and an old cloth shower curtain...and make a tripod from deadfall... another scrap of cord to hand a target. A manget for pickup.

Very portable...there are better configurations for catching the ammo. make a shorter tripod and leave a tail to tuck under the base.

I use a cheap backpack with a clothes hanger (which pops) through the top to both keep the bag's shape and the hook to hang it from a branch. Then I drape 2 shirts from the hanger on the inside. To make sure the bearings don't bounce out of the bag, I stick a piece of flat cardboard box in front of the shirts inside the bag.

Been doing this for years and takes a fair few thousand shots before the shirts and bag gives in.
