I got up at 6:00 am this morning, drank a cup of coffee and ate a
Myoplex bar and went out to my back yard, set up my target and backdrop
to catch my bb's.

After 9 hours and 45 minutes of shooting ( minus a lunch break) various sling shots I went through
15 pounds of 3/8" steel ammo. I shot about a third of it with my King Cat and
the rest with sling shots I got from Flatband, A+, Tex-Shooter, Bunny Buster,
and Chief AJ. I've spent so much time with my King Cat that I didn't realize how much
fun shooting these other GREAT sling shots could be. I had tons of fun and learned
a lot from trial and error. Different without the sights. I tried various aiming methods but
the instinctive method was great surprising as far as accuracy is concerned.

The sling shots: I shot 6 different SS's I've got from Flatband all good shooters with
2 of them being exceptional. There's something about Gary's SS's that just make me want
to just hold them in my hand. They are beautiful pieces of work, shoot great and feel great
in my hands. My favorite traditional style SS to date. Great work Gary!!!

I have a PS3 from Perry at A+ that I must admit at first I thought was too large for my
small hands but after 100 rounds or so I became very attached to this SS and found a comfortable
hand hold that worked well. Love the hole at the bottom for my pinkie. Amazingly accurate.
Hats off to you Perry for a great sling shot!!!

I have a Bunny Buster from Tom. I shot it around a 100 or so shots and it too was
a great shooter. Felt good in my hand. The bands felt different than any others I've used
but shot well. Another quality piece that shoots great. Good job Tom!!!

Another great shooter was a Falcon I got from Tex Shooter. Probably the most accurate of the day
for a non-sighted SS. His bands have to be some of the best out there. Very comfortable in the hand
and after several hundred shots I had no discomfort in my hand/wrist areas. I can really nail the target
with this SS. Thanks Tex!!!

Last but certainly not least was Chief AJ's Top Shot model with red bands. Top 3 as far as accuracy but
this might not be a fair statement being I shot it at the end of the day and fatique was starting to become a factor.
Very light weight and quick to draw back to anchor point. Probably the best feeling band as far as strength
for all day shooting. Very simple SS that's very effective. Good work here Chief!!!

The beginning of the day was several hundred shots with my King Cat. The most awesome and well put together SS
on the planet.
Craftsmanship is off the charts. Accuracy with the sighting system is second to none if you have the patience
to play with it to get it set-up correctly for your shooting style. My tournament shooter for sure. I have some long distance sights
that Jack sent me to play with for longer distances. I plan on mounting the sights tomorrow for a test run. After tomorrow
I'm taking several days off. I'm really feeling it right now from TONS of shooting pratice and fun today.

Odered a SS from Jim Harris yesterday. Can't wait to try that beauty out. I picked cherry as my wood choice.
This is a very addictive sport and very fun. I can't thank Jack Koehler and Gary Miller enough for all their help and guidance.
I've bought most of my SS's from Gary and he's a first class individual to deal with. He's been very good to me from the get go.

If you're not out there shooting your sling shots, you're missing out on some serious FUN folks.

Hope you've enjoyed this write-up as much as I've enjoyed sharing it.

Get out there and shoot!!!

I thought I was the only one who was this crazy about slingshots! I am a little scared of shooting against you at the tourney. I only shot for about an hour today. But I also re-shingled my house today.

The only slingshot I shot all day was my trumark fs-1. This slingshot used to be my go to slingshot and I remember why. I can hit ANYTHING with it. I do want a king cat though.

I look forward to meeting you my friend.

One hour a day is better than not shooting at all.

Stay with it. Consistency is key in this sport it seems. Consistent practice,
consistent set-up, approach, etc...

I try to do every single move exactly the same.

See you at the tournament.

Oh yeah, did I mention to practice? Practice, practice, and then when you think
you should stop, practice a little longer.

9 hours! Poor catchbox...

How many bands did you go through? Keep it up.

Jörg
Hi Jorg,

Actually I've had pretty good service out the bands I have from Gary.
I have 400+ shots on some pure rubber bands that's currently on
my King Cat.

The bands that broke yesterday were all on my SS's from Flatband.
The bands were thin latex. One set only got a little over 100 shots. I was
surprised at this. I have a red band that is still going at over 500 shots.
I can't recall the name of the material though.

I don't use a catch box. I have a rug clamped to my fence with some over lap
onto the ground. The bb's hit it and roll to the ground. Occasionally (quite often actually)
a bb hits my target uprights and strays away from the backstop. I lose some ammo in the process.
A catchbox is something I'm considering in the near future.

Take care and be sure and practice.

Coffee and a sawdust bar? A cooler full of beer is required equipment for this sort of session. Won't help the scores, though.
Lol, I find a nice cup of tea helps, I took about 100 shots today from 10 meters at this target using my PS-2, equipped with Tex's excellent Express band-set; for the first 50 shots I was way off, with only 7/10 actually hitting the A4 sheet of paper!
Then the idea struck me to use the bottom-right of my chin to align the bands (I use a 34" draw length,) to acquire a more consistent draw, instantly the diameter of my groupings halved! My final 20 shots all went in a neat 3" hole, with just under half within the 2" centre of the target - maybe there is hope for my target shooting yet!

Thanks Sam!

I hope to do well against some of the best out there.

I'm new to this but I have raw talent and natural ability at this sport.
I just didn't know it. I feel very lucky.

Hope to meet you at the EC tournament.

Take care and PRACTICE...

Lol, that's the beauty of slingshots, even with a hunting set-up you're only pulling 16lb of weight so they're not as exhausting as say a 50lb traditional bow.

Wow. That is a heck of a lot of shooting in one day.

I've followed your posts since you joined this forum.

The guy who says you will be a force at slingshot tourneys is right.

After checking out your homepage about the old-time feats of strength and grip trainging, I think you will bring a lot of mental focus and physical ability to this sport that one doesn't normally think would be required. You probably are driven like this no matter what you are undertaking.

It will be interesting to see if you can stay with this new sport you have discovered long enough to develop your natural ability to a high enough level in 6 or 7 months to compete well with people that have been shooting most of their lives.

I wish you all the success.

Oh, and one more thing........ practice.
