OK I said I would not do it but as a recovering knife maker I cannot help myself
Found this at the hardwood store for five dollars
Just saw a Hathcock sniper carved out of that
Pros and cons
I've used Purple Heart inoverlays and In laminated bows and glued in pieces but never a solid piece
Is it strong enough
It's funny being a master blade Smith and I don't know where to start Lol
Damm u guys !!!
You all make such good looking "shift"

I dunno.... Purpleheart is a rather strong wood and you have a nice thick board there.

If you have your heart set on that HTS, give it a try. Once completed, put it in a vice and put some very strong rope or nylon webbing across the tops of the forks and try to break it. The worst scenario is that it breaks and you have some small scraps for other projects.

If it were a thin board or a much weaker wood I would say don't do it. The last thing you want to do is injure yourself or someone else.
