I am just like you.
I started with the adjustable taper ruler. But that is only 27.5-28cm long.
I just bought a different longer ruler.

Which quilting ruler are you using?

I have been searching Aliexpress for rulers and decided on one which was not transparent but was intended to use as a guide when cutting material:

Like most things from Aliexpress it will take 4-6 weeks to get in the USA.
