Im constantly trying to improve some aspect or another. Is probably done before. Was very happy with my hatchet but wanted to tilt my wrist forward all the time. Not optimal and tired of hand slaps. So how to improve? I tilted the forks. Now i can shoot with a strait wrist. And it slaps a lot less. So now i can use 1745 for most of my shooting :D. Wood Household hardware Horn Jewellery Font

I agree with Ordo. We thumb supporters need to support each other. I tilt all my forks forward and shoot with a straight wrist.. I found that it makes your form easier to lock into and re leaves a lot of my wrist strain. Which means that I get to shoot more. You can join our thumb support supporters, and be part of the cool crowd.

I really like your style that looks like a great shooter.

Let me know how it treats you.

Good luck and have fun

Ty all! Its far from finished and it need some remodeling. If im gonna hold it like a normal hatchet i need longer forks. So i moved my grip backwards on this. The result is that i have 2 fingers in the hole.... That came out wrong. But it works on this one. The handle needs some work and some sanding. Lanyard is on the list too.

Thanks for the update.

Watch out for board cut slingshots the grain can be sketchy when your putting them under that much pressure repeatedly over time. Especially if you experience any fork hits. For the next one you might think about putting a metal core or laminating multiple layers together. Ive been able to bend some decent gauge aluminium for cores. Let me know and ill give you directions. You dont want pieces of wood being propelled back towards your face.(safety glasses?) I really like where your going with your style.

Did you make the sling shot in your profile picture?

Its not a board cut. I carved it out of a solid chunk of maple. Grain is going along the handle. Profil pic is my Franke monster my first dabble with cf. That one got a pine core that i wraped in cf and cured. Is a very nice sling but im not using it atm

Just keep going man! It is promising! Don't forget to check the Hare Splitter slingshot!
Love your proof of concept model!

Cheers,

If you are interested I found the link to my Frankenfork build. https://slingshotforum.com/topic/117666-building-carbon-sling-the-wrong-way/

Cool I like the walk through/ how too. Im glad you weight tested it. I couldnt tell it was carbon fiber wrapped in the profile picture. Nor could I make out that the one was a solid maple chunk. Thats good I Like them even more now. I didnt want you to get hurt or go through all that work/play and it break or become an unusable piece. Thanks for explaining.

Keep them coming, I like your style, Ubamajuba

Did a search, is it hare or hair splitter? Its the same concept and solution for the same problem. Only difference is my forks are that my build is based on a hatchet. So i was right its done before, so its a wheel all over again. :)

Hey Uba,

Hare. It does not mean you can not create something that will become unique at the end. Tinkering around an idea is always helpful even if there is a similar solution. Now you have your own experience to build upon. The way you used the space and turned this frame into a rough sculpture tells me you can create a few potential designs. Just invest the time and you will find your language through shapes.

Keep us posted!
