Securing Chinese tubes?

946 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  M.J
How are the small Chinese tubes secured when single strands are used (i.e. 1745)? I have seen pics of metal frames and wood frames with tubes sticking out the front but I can't figure out what holds them in place. Here is an example. http://www.trulytexas.com/wu02.html

The tube has a bb in it the hole in the frame is in two stages with a slot on the side the bb in the tube fits snug in the first stage of the hole so as to not go through the second stage the slot in the side is for a fast band change hawk2009 has a video of this on his youtub chanel
Thanks dragonmaster,

Yep, I think that's the video I saw with the fast tube change. He didn't show the ends of the tubes so I couldn't figure out why they were not pulling through. The BB trick makes sense.

I guess the BB gets removed and reused when the tubes break? Do you just push it in with alcohol as a lubricant?

Is there any reason why the "BB in tube" method wouldn't work for securing regular size tubes in a wood frame (i.e. Theraband blues or greens)?

Thanks,

I just spit on the BB Gross I know but thats how I do it. Hawk2009's slingshot's are wood with a strait hole and it works. It would also work on other tub's as well but some people just don't trust it but if the right size BB is used I don't see why it wouldn't work.
I've been using this attatchment on my new boardcut. I drilled a 5/16 hole for the band (Trumark RR-T) and countersunk the front side bigger to locate a 3/8 ammo stuck down in the tube. Works great so far!
