Safety matches have a chemical in the match head, that needs to be connected with one in the striking strip, I don't think you could do it like this. Swan vestas though, they can be struck with friction, and originally it was phospherous (I believe) coated with wax; rub the wax off, start the reaction.

When I first saw the post I thought it was about actually using match sticks as ammo. When I was a kid, long ago we use to take an empty wooden sewing thread spool and tape a rubber band to it and shoot strike on anything matches through the spool hole. Actually worked.

Bringing back memories, how about linoleam guns, same thing with the spring close pin release to launch a small piece of flooring material that was laid between the rubber bands attached to a wood pistol frame. Never knew where the tile was going as it was flat and really caught the wind.

Im still waiting for the POLO, you could start with a tyre then work you way down to a douhnut then a Polo, ha ha , jeff
Gonna need alot of patience and a lorry load of polo's I think,I have some slingshots to finish and a car to sell hopefully give it a go this week,I have stuck the polo's to a peice of cardboard without thinking, the carboard is white
but I have a solution to this problem I will colour the holes in with a black marker pen.
Winning the lottery is about 14million to one I have more chance of hitting that than doing this but then again never say never.
