I had a friend join me for my morning shoot in the desert this morning. I am hoping it is taking care of all the snakes- I have been seeing more after a wet couple of weeks. He may have been checking up on me too, I had a few busy days without shooting.

I love seeing and watching them too. I am pretty ignorant on identifying them though, no idea what this one is other than one of the larger "hawk" birds of prey. Too small to be an eagle, too big to be a falcon, but other than that....

Today's version of the velociraptor. After a good rain here I have a couple of these guys that show up and feed on the snails that come out of the garden. Ingenious little thugs that pick the snails up and beat them on the concrete until the escargot is tenderized and easily available. I have on occasion gotten them to take small pieces of hot dog from me. We call them "road crows".

I'm always rooting for the roadrunners when they are dining on snake.
