Hey there. There’s an easy way to find a jumping off point for band tapers with Simpleshot premium black latex. If you search “die cut band sets” from the main Simpleshot page it will give you a breakdown in the description of the preferred taper for the thickness of band and ammo you’re interested in shooting. That’s their recommendation and I’d start there then tweak that by what you feel is necessary. I’ve saved you some time and screenshot the page for you.

Darnit my apologies I didn’t see that you were shooting .8 thickness which isn’t listed. You may be able to ask them in their questions popup. Or some folks here might have a better idea. Sorry I wasn’t able to answer your question.

Without knowing your draw length, or if you want to plink or hunt, I'd suggest for a draw in the 30 inch range, cut tapers 3/4 to 1/2-inch and make them 1/4 your draw length. If you feel you need more oomph, remove the pouch and cut the bands down to 1/5 your draw length and replace the pouch.
For draw lengths longer than 36 inches, you may want to cut narrower bands - maybe 5/8 to 3/8-inch.
The search for a sweet spot with the speed, draw weight, and longevity you like can be quite an adventure.
Good luck!
