We had quite the day today in that we finalized our new house in Arizona today. Then I sat outside and made up a few bandsets and tried to relax... lol. Not happening :)
So I went out into the desert with my bucket full of slings and really just shot my new ProShot ZDP2 to try it out with one of the 3 bandsets that Court215 sent with them. Man, this is a great little pocket shooter and the bands shot great with 1/4 up to 3/8 steel ammo. I tried 7/16 steel on it also but it started dropping hard at about 45 feet, but the 1/4 and 3/8" ammo was dead on. It has a 4-1/2" fork width, which is perfect for me and I was able to use the indentation in the band tying groove for perfect shot placement from the beginning. I lost count on how many times that I hit the can in a row. I tossed the can on the ground and just shot it farther down the trail each time until dark this evening. Heck, I tied the bands on this way pictured to try it, next time I'll reverse them and I'll tie them on the other. I don't know which way will be the most comfortable, but it sure works and feels great.

He also sent me the Pocket Predator Taurus, but I have found that I need to learn to shoot them one at a time for the best results and I took it out a few days back for a little outing and it proved itself right off the bat. My plan is to put some wide bands on the Taurus and try to break some of my speed tests with it and then see how far I can take it, but for now, I have it banded with the .7 Simpleshot Black Bands :)

We came back to Arizona about the 1st of November and I saw a house for sale and knew that was going to be ours. Then took Karen over there the next day and she said, No Way! Well, we finally went for a tour yesterday and after touring a couple of houses, she was done. I couldn't believe that it was still on the market, but when things are meant to be, there's no stopping God's plans... We met the owners and everything felt perfect, you know that feeling :)
The owners told us last night and the realtor finalized it with them this afternoon... Once again, we have a home after being in a trailer and traveling for the last 4 years now.
What was my first thought when I walked in?
There's going to be a nice new shooting range in my back yard, I'm estimating 75 feet but the actual measurements will have to wait :)

Great news Reed. I thought you might be on the road until the end-of-days. Now you've got a fixed location to collect lots of stuff! I just ordered up some plans for a moat and 3000ft of razor wire. I'm just waiting for approval from the HOA.

For what it's worth, I put the bands on backwards I think... just to try it out because it is comfortable to hold both ways. I looked all over when I bought it and found no reviews on any of the ZDP series, which shows that it must not be very popular. But for less then half price, it looked and turned out to be a great pocket shooter with the smooth thin lines of the aluminum frame sliding easily into and out of my pocket. The handle is shorter but it sure feels great in my front pocket with the bands tucked in first and this gives it a quick and easy draw. I'll be doing a review on it soon enough just because there aren't any :)

Overall, right now, it's a winner as a hunter but as far as using it for tournaments, that's not what it is designed for. It's accurate enough and would work great in tournaments with a smaller hand but my Velociraptor is way more comfortable for competition though not pocket friendly like the ZDP2 is.
Next, I need to put a clasp on it to be able to attach it to my wrist brace and then... well see what's next. I chose not to attach it to a brace or lanyard at first so that I could have a clean first impression :)
I mean... it's my favorite color :) Camo...lol, it matches my shirt, that's a big plus, it takes bands or tubes, so it has a lot going for it :)

I went out today to do a speed test, it was too cold at 51°f to really get the ball rolling but everything went ok... Not great, but ok. I modified the Taurus a bit by stacking the ends with paracord so that I could fit a 1-1/4" band on it. It took me a while to get the chronograph working, but if I shoot 3" below the top, it works fine. It took about 20 shots to figure that out, but that's life. I was pulling way over 400fps with every shot but didn't take a picture because... after all of the error readings, I wasn't worried about it. I pulled out my camera, took a shot, while knowing that it would be hitting around 480fps... and the band broke... Go figure... lol. You can see the broken band on the left and it still pulled 361fps, so, no pic, no proof, right? I had also made up a set of singles at 1-1/4" x 3/8" x 10-1/2, which is the longest that the jig can handle but that set was just pulling over 300 - 320fps, so that was a fail. But the doubles was a win and I'm making a few mods to it to see if I can get it up over 500fps. That's my goal.

I switched the bands around on the ZDP2 and it is more comfortable with them set up this way. I was able to get a good strong pull with it and it was also shooting an average of 450fps plus, but it was hard to hold with the heavy bands that I have on it. But that was the final test for it before adding my wrist brace to it. The ZDP2 was flawless today and it did everything that I was asking it to do. It will really rock with the wrist brace hooked up :)

Yup, I did hit the 500fps mark, but only once with every bit of muscle that I had into it :)
I'm still working towards that 500fps badge and with a bit of luck, maybe I'll be making a video pretty soon. It's been so darn windy and cold for the past 2 weeks, that I was just shooting for fun until today... Woo-hoo 51° today and climbing for this week. Get me into the 80's and I'll have that 500fps badge, or at least I am trying for it anyway :)
