I received some great Slingmail from Henry the Hermit last week just before we started moving into the new house and it's high time that I write this because he sent me a "Lukens Slingshot" made by my cousins in Ohio, where my great grandfather and his brother came from to the California Gold Rush. We have family that migrated west from Pennsylvania, where "The Lukens Steel Company" came from that I know quite a bit about, but I had forgotten about the slingshot from "The Lukens Aluminum Corporation" until I came across it here. -

My father had mentioned that we had a family slingshot that they used to sell in our old Lukens Hardware Store to me back when I was a teen, and how he had kicked himself for not keeping one of them out of all the one's that they sold over the years. Unfortunately, that's all that I could really find out about it. I remember seeing it on the shelf and asking if I could have one when I was about 4, but back then he told me... "Someday". I had a new one in my hands back then, but I carefully put it back in the box and closed the lid. The stuff that dreams are made of... A real metal slingshot with our name on the box... What kid could resist?
Then I was reading another thread and saw that Henry had found one at a yard sale and offered it to another member, who didn't respond, and I jumped at the chance to grab this one from him and it hasn't left my side since. I've looked and looked for more information and patents, but I came up with zilch... The only information on it is from Gary, here on the forum in the link above.
I took a few pictures, but I haven't rebanded it yet because we're still buying furniture and moving into the new house, busy busy busy
I doctored up a few pics of the box from Gary's thread -
Next comes the cleaning, then I'll be banding and shooting it
More pictures to come
