The TSA didn't like the slingshot in my bag for some target practice on vacation. Are there any shops around Portland, OR that carry something other than wire-frame Daisy/Marksman slingshots?

Don't know, but you could always pick up a cheap folding saw, cut you a nice natural fork and make your own ?

I doubt that you will find a retail that sell anything else. How long are you going to be there?

Something you might consider is going to a pet supply. The Nylabone dog chew makes a surprisingly nice shooter. A bag of file bands from the local equivalent of an Office Max will make a bunch of bandsets and Gorilla tape can used for a pouch.
