I shoot so much that my finger and thumb stay sore. I can’t stay away from it so I thought maybe one of those mechanical releases may help my fingers get a rest once and a while but then I thought that might be a bad idea and hinder me in someway.. 🤷‍♂️

…any thoughts on that m? Thanks!

I've used mine many times for heavy bands, but it's not needed for lighter band set ups.

In the end it will probably be better to keep using your hand so you built up a tolerance so it doesn't hurt anymore, if you can try and space you shooting seccions out a little.

I try to do hand splay and hold for a few seconds repetition exercise sets daily to help equalize the tension. Latex finger stretch bands are great for strengthening and dexterity.
I think you'll find gripping a mechanical release nearly as wearing as gripping a pouch.

I personally have tried the mechanical releases when I was having issues pulling back heavy bands. I found that it had a different release timing than with your fingers, and it would take a lot of practice to get used to the mechanical release but it would work if you took the time.
Personally I say go to a lighter band set and lighter ammo and take more breaks as said above. Your fingers will toughen up and get used to it.

I have found "short sessions" to be more productive than long ones.

And your fingers will be happier. 😊
