Staying hydrated...8>}

Not sure about this post, Mattwalt if this is a little "out of character" for this forum, feel free to scrub it.

Anyway, been hot here. My shooting pard has been coming less since school started, so I have been shooting a little in doors. Been staying hydrated maybe a little to much. (Bud light). So hugo (pard) shows up about an hour before dark.

I said "I don't know Lad, I've been hitting the beer and I don't think that is a good example to set for young men". Anyhow, we went outside and shot. Man I shot better than I have for days. Come to think of it, I was loaded last time I shot like that!

So...We talk and talk about release. Once you get your stance and anchor point down, it is ALL about release. Sober, I just can't make myself let that last little bit of pressure off to make a clean shot. I call it the yips. I suspect a lot of us would improve if not for them. Drinking dulls the senses and throws balance and timing off. But it also calms the nerves.

Now I'm not advocating that we turn into a bunch of toss pots, I bring this up to say how important that last little half second is to accurate shooting. There must be some way..some exercise... some tonic that I/we could follow that would help this delicate condition. This sport is just like shooting a pistol. You get the yips and you might as well pop the slide, rack her open and go on home.

Buddhist Monks had to get a buzz to help find their center. The same with my Mom and Dad and their Peace Pipe for around 45 years or so. In fact just got off the phone with Mum just now!
Makes me want to go shooting!!!

Man you have some cool parents. Probably from the sixties. As I recall, "If you can remember the sixties, you probably did it wrong"...

I dont drink very much, and there are 3 reasons for this:

1) Expencive, 10$/l on average for the cheeper beers

2) Taste, i prefer anything that taste like chocolate milk or any kind of pop.

3) I get stupid ideas when i drink, like im the worlds best hiphop dancer or lets see if we can hit the neighbors cat while its taking a dump in my garden, while dancing hip-hop, pretending to be a ninja hiding behind stuff to get close enough to see the cat.

Its a slippery slope that one! :panic:

Pictured: SJAaz ready to start shooting in earnest :D

(just kidding. Picture is actually from the Drunken Master. Great kung-fu film starring Jackie Chan. I need to photoshop a slingshot in place of the bottle.)
Who's is this "Jacki Chan" you speak of?

Long John, I can't tell if you're joking or not. If you love action movies, slapstick comedy, and/or kung fu then you'll like Jackie Chan. He's up there with Bruce Lee, Jet Li and Sammo Hung for kung fu movie legends. Wikipedia and Youtube are your friends :)
