Not a direct answer to you question, but i get my 1/4" steel ammo from BC Precision. I usually purchase through amazon but i think they have an e-bay storefront as well.
Carbon steel balls is the common animal that you can buy Amazon. They do a decent job not rusting if you get to him really quickly and they don't get wet too much.
PGN is usually priced better than BC, so worth a look. I buy from them on ebay. Also search for utility grade steel ball bearings. Don't pay a premium for the slingshot ammo label!
FYI current 5/16 ebay price from BC is $21.50 for 1000 (costs more on their website). PGN is selling 1500 for $19.95. So 500 more for $1.55 less! I contacted PGN and they gave me discount on 3000. Due early next week!
