Hi everyone! I put together my first stickshot. For the most part - I shoot it like a PFS, but every once in a while the projectile goes way off-course. It happens around 1 in every 5 shots. I can't figure out what causes it. I suspect maybe the pouch does not open properly? Any suggestions for a stick shot newbie?

Hi, make sure that it sits in your hand the same, any slight variation will give an off shot.

More string for the pouch add about another inch.

I have not tried it myself, but I read that it is better to replace the string with a piece of pipe 1745. It has been argued that this facilitates faster opening of the pouch.

Probably right I honestly don't know didn't look into it too much but I do know that regardless of what material you use there has to be enough of it for that pouch to open comfortably if not forget about it

I have one of those guys but without the pouch for whacking flies. Works surprisingly well! I realize that doesn’t help much though! 😜

If you are determined to shoot one, I recommend that you replace the para cord with 16/32 or 20/40 tube. it tends to open better and adds a pseudo taper effect so that you don't need as much rubber for the main band.

Thank you everyone! I'll see if I can get my hands on some elastic tubing I'll try a slightly longer loop of that inplace of the Paracord.

Give the longer Paracord a try while you wait on the tubes.

You can even use a short crooked stick, looking something like an old black powder pistol from the 1700s... works great
