I've been pinching for years. It's always been my preferred hold. In the picture on the right, the tip of your index finger is in peril. I think you need a frame big enough to accommodate a pinch with large paws. 1/2 inch wider would probably do ya- Pinching small frames has always been problematic for me, there's just too much digit left dangling.

I place my fingers as high up on the forks as possible like the second photo. It feels right with my big mitts. Whatever is comfortable for you will give you the best results.

I also shoot with pinch grip on a small frame (Twister by Chris Edwards). It's the first thing I look for when choosing a slingshot...to see if the frame allows for pinch grip. The SS Slant also holds really well in pinch grip but fills the hand and is a little chunkier than a flat hdpe like the Twister ( I go back and forth between the two depending if I feel like my hand surrounding the frame or if I want my thumb and fingers a little more seperated). I like the Champ in your recent post so much that I plan to order one soon! Great looking little frame!

Opposite for me. I went from the pinch grip to the finger brace grip and found it more comfortable and easier to be consistent.
That's what I love about shooting slingshots. There is no one right way to do anything. No hard rules. What works for one person won't work for another. It's very individual.

Sometimes I alternate even in the same shooting session depending on how everything's working out. However my finger braces a bit different it's more like a half pinch grip I pinch with my pointer finger and then my thumb is braced on the face of the frame. But naturally I tend to do a finger brace
