When I'm wrapping the stretching tape, I put 2 wraps around the frame first to give the bands a solid base. Some slingshots have a slippery finish and this keeps them from sliding out from under the wrapping tape.
Then I wrap as much of the tape around it as will fit, which is like 2 feet on the Taurus... You don't need that much, but this way, I can unwrap a broken band, put a new one on and retie it with the same tape. I loose an inch or 2 of the wrap material every time I have to retie, but it just gets shorter. I use it until it's eventually too short to retie.
