It's starting to get closer and closer to negative temperatures here. What are the effects of the cold on the rubber? I can't shoot indoors, so if I can't shoot outdoors, I'll have to give it a break till it gets warmer

Hi Panda,
the cold will slow the rubber down-especially if there is a lot of wind. Every 10 or so shots, stick them in your hands to warm up for a few minutes. Oh yeah, the thinner rubber is actually better in cold weather too. Flatband

I live in england also but I still shoot in the cold just put the slingshot in your jacket pocket holding the tubes to warm them up I did this earlier in the week and they were fine.

No real problems in the cold shooting Thera-Band double black or use Thera-Band triple blue

I already use double TB black for my butterfly shooting. Can't say I'm very accurate shooting that way though. I'm probably just going to make another double TB black band set. Thanks for the advice, guys.

Hi, PandaMan,

Both Flatband and Hawk are right: I use a pair of catties, one I shoot for about ten rounds while the other is kept warm in my inner chest pocket, as simple as this.
Oh, use some talc too...

It just reduces the slipping. Going from from cold to warm produces condensation on both the catty and rubbers and added to the transpiration of my hands ( I use to protect from from the cold as well by putting them deep in my jacket's pocket: I can't shoot with gloves on), talc is just a good medium to keep a good grip under all damp circumstances. Too warm or too cold, I use talc, try it and tell me. Btw my favorite catties are made out of aluminium...

Shot for several hours today, temperatures much below freezing. The shots are less powerful, I estimate you loose about 15% speed. But they lasted OK (in fact, no band tearing at all).

I did about 50 shots per round, then went back to warm up for 10 minutes, then 50 more rounds.
