I wasn't getting any responses on this in the custom page so i thought i'd try here.

So far i've only used tubes, no flatbands yet...but i was cleaning up the basement tonight and ran across a workout bag that my wife hasn'y used in a while and there were two ~4" wide by ~5 foot long theraband black bands, so here are my theraband questions.

Are all therabands latex free?

is there a general ranking of theraband colors as they relate to slingshot use?

Is there a "standard" length of band most use?

What about shape, do some taper? if so what are the dimensions?

thanks, Dan

Hello Dan,

I use TB black, but only with only with butterfly stance now.

My bands are 3,5 cm tapered to 2cm, 30 cm from fork to pouch.
My draw length is about 160 cm

Very fast with 5 grams ammo, and last about 200 shots
To be honest I think you'd be better off with theraband silver...

Rob,
I have some thera gold that a purchased some time ago. Mine and the Gold Winners I bought from Perry are the same. I have cut them to the same specs Perry does and they shoot exactly the same. However, I bought an ergo2 from Fish not long ago and holy moley those bands were visibly thicker and way too strong for me to shoot! I actually had to rest my hands for two days before I could shoot again after spending an hour with that slingshot. (arthritis) I think Fish gets his from some different supplier than the rest of us.

If you have the latex free version of thera-bands which they do sell for latex allergy people then dont bother using them.
Its the regular latex therbands you want and in that case black thera bands are faster than gold based on personal experience not some opinion which you see a lot of.

A simple formula for power/speed and not such a heavy pull like the gold thera bands is a straight cut 1inch wide by 8 to 8 1/2 inches length. Tripple bands per side, in other words cut yourself 6 strips like this as three are used per band side.
I found this to be very powerful, fast and able to handle heavy ammo whether large stones or heavy lead and it lasted me 4 months or regular shooting before I decided to retire the bandset for looking old as they never snapped on me.

Hope this helps you
Nick
