I am genuinely impressed every time I see a new member introduction, and especially a member that doesn’t post a lot (which is perfectly fine) and jumps in here with a post. The one thing I wished is that even if a member would for one reason or another leave the Forum, I wish they would check in once in awhile and say hello. I realize this ole world is somewhat in a turmoil, but tome that just makes this Forum more important to me.

To each his own, what ever you do for relaxation is fine with me. The two things I enjoy doing most is fishing on a pond or small stream and foremost shooting a slingshot. I should also include shooting a plain ole BB gun rifle with my nephew Max. I say this every so often, but I hope everyone will post if they have a question, or comment. The Forum is made up of a very diverse group of amazing people, and personally I find it very interesting to hear about their lives. Like the snackage in a package post. Kalavela posted three different videos that I loved. One was a trip on his motorcycle and he showed us these stones that were cupped. ( not a good description) also a motorcycle show that was fantastic. He also used a drone to show the country side.

Tag, a few weeks ago I was curious about something. It seems like there is a pretty solid core of members that post regularly and some new members jump right in and get involved, but when you look at the members list and who is online, there are a ton of names that I've never seen post anything. I started looking at their activity and they are on the forum regularly. I totally get it that not everyone wants to post and would rather just read and learn, but I also wonder how much more knowledge and opinions are out there! Would be great of some of the members that lay low would chime in from time to time!

I wonder if some on the members on the 'other' forum think the same about me. I like checking out their builds, and will give a 'thumbs up' on occasion, but rarely comment. It isn't because I don't like those folks, or don't think them any different. I was just making myself dizzy trying to participate in two forums so I just settle my time really into this space where I feel more at home.

Even as a relative newcomer I have to say this place is remarkably relaxed. I haven't seen any handbags at dawn, hissy fits or arguments over trivial nonsense. So I'd encourage all lurkers to chip in, 'cos we all have something to add.

Well then, Here is a story that has nothing to do with slingshots. I have 4 grand kids, I believe that every child in the USA should learn to handle a gun. I don't care if they enjoy firearms or that they don't want to hunt. For multiple reasons, I want them to know to use a gun safely and ably. My oldest went into the army and is a sniper, his dad has no interest in guns (but believe me, he is capable) so I taught the lad. And I guess fairly well. The two middle Gkids have a father who loves the outdoors, and is fishing or hunting most of his spare time. They both shoot well.

Yesterday the Granddaughter whom I dote on to no end, texted me and said that she had been camping in the mountains north of Sun Valley. One of the group had brought along some firearms for practice, and my Gkid out shot them all! They were all raving about her shooting and she calmly told them "well my Grandfather taught me to shoot when I was little". Sorta warmed the shackles of an old mans' heart.

By the way, this is the same kid that I taught to shoot frameless.

I am one of those members that is mentioned above. { A Lurker } I have been a member for more than a year and have posted only once. I really enjoy reading what the new and experienced sling shooters have to say.

I am somewhere in between the two. Sometimes I think perhaps I might add something but there is always some voice in my head saying NO that is just copying what somebody has already said, different words maybe but all in all the same thing. But you are all absolutely right, if everyone was like me then there wouldn't be a slingshot forum. So I apologise. I will now try and post on some of the topics I am reading.

Your good here FB. The database is large here. Sometimes too large honestly. Indeed every question has been asked a hundred times I am sure. I am not an elder on this Forum but I will tell you that I have never seen a question of no value. All we ha e to fear here is fear itself, and a vicious hand hit!

Awesome post fingerBob. Repetition post are not only informative, but still fun and interesting. Besides I get to tell my little nieces and nephews a person from the UK sent a post to the Forum We get a globe out and see where the UK is. Besides multi post of the same thing can't be bad, my wife repeats things to me

Good post Tag.
Well I throw my 2 cents around all over the place. When I first started here there were some pretty mean people here. I got jumped on when I posted my newbe question. It was then I decided if I posted anything it would be positive and encouraging. Now I find everyone's the same way. This forum is very relaxed with some awesome people. The friends I've made here are priceless to me!
We've got a great thing going!!

Ditto,

When I was new to the sport and checking out the Sling Shot forums, I was impressed that there were so many forums and information everywhere. As a rank newbie, it took me a while to recognize that some of the sites I found were old and obsolete. Finally found this one and the Community. Didn't know anything about either, but for the same reasons MO mentioned, I settled in on the Community. Still very active there but was happy to see many of our online friends are equally active on both forums. But personally, I have a hard time keeping up with both and I'm not a real fan of double posting (makes me dizzy too). Now I'm a medium seasoned shooter, wanna be builder, and happy to find and make friends on both sites.

I enjoy seeing and talking about, anything and everything slingshots, and try my best to surf both forums.

IMHO, I think some of the lurkers or newbies might not be confident in builds or how to skills, but I would like to encourage those folks that might be even remotely interested to take a good, long, and hard look at naturals.
It doesn't get any simpler, and they are extremely satisfying to build, and to post your successes and your failures.

Everyone i have found, is here to help and learn, and /or teach and share.

Yes SnS! Your statement about the reality of a Natural is something that I could have paid more attention too during my first painful run of 'making my own'. I think after seeing a beautiful YSYEO Frame nestled in its own little box I figured I needed to 'own big to play big'. Then 2 years later I am watching little kids on YouTube shooting with rugged little sticks and rubber, using knobby little rocks for ammo and never, ever, missing their target. I didn't shoot much different that these kids in the late 60's yet somehow I forgot all about those simple days!

Yes and thanks to Sling-N-Shot, I now have buckets full of tree forks all over my garage, under the work bench, and under my table saw.

Also, hoping the police don't cite me for carrying a concealed weapon if they find the folding tree saw under the seat of my truck!

I will also give Darrell credit for helping me see the true beauty of a natural fork and getting back to basics.

LOL, Monroe, don't you go blaming that mess on me, haha..... I stay in enough trouble with my own wife over my barrells, tubs, and pallets of wood.....and if the cops pull me over and start searching and citing, well I just hope y'all come visit me in prison cuz I've got 3 folding saws, a longer 18-20" D handle saw, and a Bow saw under and behind my truck seats.
Natural is where it's at baby !
