Here are three dead dogwood frames that were hanging on a tree a month ago. All of them were dead and in some form of decay. The little phoenix like fork is still tacky with poly. The big red dog has finger grooves in the back but I am not confident enough to carve scallops yet. It shoots great as it is.

A fine trio of naturals, and I like them all. The heavy one is really fine with the finger grooves.

I have made my first one, and used polyurethane also. My finish is not glossy, but came out kind of sticky. I allowed 4-6 hours for drying, as the can recommended and gave it three coats. I didn't use a "high quality natural bristle brush" like the can suggested, though.

I wonder if you have any tips on using this stuff correctly/effectively?
