Hi everyone, ive been wanting to make my own slingshot crossbow for some time, and finally got it working about a month ago, making progressively stronger bands to see how much power i can get, ive been using the tourniquet method for the bands, and this consistently happens after about a week of shooting, these rather large holes appear in the tubular rubber. what methods to you use to secure your bands. Thanks in advance and stay safe.

The knot on the string and the poly tourniquet are the culprits. I recommend that you take an inch or so of a much smaller diameter tube, put a piece of string through that and use it to pull the rope through it. Fold the tube at the end and do a wrap and tuck to hold it. Spritz it with Armor All and insert into the tube and instead of a tourniquet of poly rope, wrap and tuck again. The latex wrap will give a little and recovers instead of being a static attachment. Spritz with AA, re-apply every week or two. These things should reduce your friction factor quite a lot.

not really a sling crossbow shooter but i use cotton string and constrictor knots, dont know if that will help, but theres my 2 cents. Good Luck
I'm with Skarrd use butcher's twine and do constrictor knots. Instead of inserting the paracord into the tube daisy chain them. I think that would give you a bit longer.
