After reading hundreds of posts here and seeing what a great lot you all are I thought I'd share a couple I made recently. I'm not that good of a craftsman and certainly not an artist like I see on this forum time and again but everyone seems so nice and it makes mediocre makers like myself comfortable to show their work here, so here goes.

The larger slingshot is Jörg's Pheonix design. I had an old bamboo cutting board and I made a couple from that. I wasn't too sure about the strength of these laminated bamboo boards so I put light bands on it. The bend wire one was an experiment to see if I could get 3 small slingshots from a 36" rod. So this little bb shooter is from 12" x 1/4" steel. It was too small to make a proper sculpey full grip handle and it was really nice to hold without it but it looked bare sitting there with just wire so I made it a sweater. ;-) It's real thin sculpey and I made it just for kicks. By the way, that's Rayshot's pouch on that one (and the tubes too) and it shoots real nice flipped.

The slingshot forum has made these dreary winter days just fly so thank you all for sharing your incredible work and innovations!

I like the little bent-rod Sweater Dankung. I've got two Dragonmaster made (without sweaters) and man they shoot really, really good and are actually among my favorites now. I used to discount this type but to be honest I have had to really take a hard look at my Slingshot Prejudices based on these and the Dayhiker Ash Pocket Board Cut.

Something I completely overlooked with the bent-rods was how flat they lay in your pocket, almost like a Milbro but a lot more forgiving to shoot!

Please do share any further projects with us and also keep us updated as you shoot.

Welcome to a fellow Hoosier. Slings look great, I also like the bent rod, good job on that. If you want to band up with heavy on the bamboo, you should try to reinforce the forks with some steel rods. Just drill holes and glue in place. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing more from you in the future.

Well I have to say a fantastic pair you've got on your hands. I really like the simplicity of the bent rods, and I think that has a good unique shape to it, and the sweater must do wonders for comfort. As to the phoenix, that is a great design to start with and you did it full justice. The bamboo's subtle grain looks very handsome in that photo.

Great job, keep em coming, and keep sharing!

Cheers - John

First, thank you all for your kind comments.

jmplsnt - It was after reading your long post about Dayhiker's little Ash shooter that I started thinking about small frames. Then I see fantastic shooters like Geko and Torsten shoot incredibly well with them and I was hooked. This type of minimalism is what I've been thinking about more and more with slingshots lately. Taking minimalism to the extreme and you have dgui's Glove Shooter and his Slingshot ring which are both fantastic innovations.

MidniteMaraude - Thanks for the advice on bolstering the forks on the bamboo phoenix. I just might have to try this.

All the best,
steve

Wow, thanks a lot for the comment. It didn't take long to bend and is unbelievably cheap to make. I would encourage everyone to bend 1/4" steel into something they like. Anything thicker than 1/4" gets more difficult. The main reason I wanted to bend steel frames is to experiment with frame geometries that work best for me.
I am in love with that bent rod one!!! Holy crap!
