I've been tying on my pouches using pure silk thread. I just did the one shown and hadn't trimmed that little tag end yet. It's also a bit of a narrow wrap compared to my usual. I like a wrap just under 1/8th inch to spread it out a bit. I finish with 2 drops of superglue. The glue soaks into the thread, and it'll never come loose. I was a little worried about the glue and its effect on latex, but I often use the glue to glue broken bands back together to get another 100 shots or so out of them. When they break again, it's never at the repair site. So far, they seem to hold up well.

I've used super glue to secure thread and such before. My only issue is that it dries hard and could potentially be a source of friction and early band failure. I've used it on mercerized cotton thread and it started smoking! Super glue can do some weird stuff sometimes. If you get the chance, pick up some FabriFuse by E6000. Made specifically for leather, clothing and textiles. It stays flexible and I've had very good luck with it. Just something to try.
