U.S. troops face violent children in Baghdad Shiite militias encouraging children to hurl stones and gasoline bombs at U.S. convoys, Americans say.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Shiite militias are encouraging children as young as 6 to hurl stones and gasoline bombs at U.S. convoys, hoping to lure American troops into ambushes or provoke them into shooting back, U.S. soldiers say.

Gangs of up to 100 children assemble in Baghdad's Sadr City neighborhood, stronghold of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr and his Mahdi Army militia, and in nearby neighborhoods, U.S. officers said.

that is sad. little kids have to go through such horrible things. my dad was in iraq and afghanistan for a year each. he came back with horrible stories about how litte kids are told to do things and they do it because they do no know the difference

Whilst we teach our kids love and acceptance of other religions, they are raising armies of martyrs from as young as 6. Same children that will be blowing themselves up to go to Heaven. So I'm not going to take the attitude of ' but they are only children'. If they enter the battlefield with slingshots, shoot them dead!

Guys, these are kids as young as six, they've been brainwashed by the militia, and clearly can't differentiate between right and wrong - through no fault of their own. Shooting them isn't going to help the situation. We all know that a six year old firing stones with a slingshot poses no threat what-so-ever to an American soldier, with they're body armour and helmets. So shooting them obviously wouldn't be justifiable. The Shiite are clearly persuading the children to do this in the hope of provoking a marine into shooting at them so they can use it as propaganda - you'd simply be giving them what they want!

In Viet Nam the VC would give a kid a grenade with the pin pulled and tell them to take it to a GI and give it to him and he will give you candy.The kids did not know what they were doing.Some got shot before they got into grenade blast range.A terrible thing,but you would have to shoot to survive.
