 Hi all! Here is my newest slingshot creation it is called the V Hammer. I was shooting a homemade pinch grip slingshot and for fun just decided to try it hammer style and loved it and found my accuracy was improved by at least 25% first shot?? So the next morning I took an old design slingshot that I wasn't using anymore and cut it down and stuck it in a 1" PVC pipe and low and behold it shot amazing! Surprisingly the hammer grip with PVC band clamps (work amazing) works better then the slingshot with the diagonal Forks. I think it's because the flat part of the clip Fork fits my hand better making it more accurate and comfortable.

I used 1" thin wall PVC pipe melted it and formed it to my hand. I used little bits of wood at the end to hold it steady and then filled the Gaps and end with plastic putty. Super-solid, very easy to heat up the PVC pipe and I'm shooting way better now with more control with my heavy bands with the hammer grip Style. Of course it's the last style I tried, but since I make all my own slingshots no big deal.

Love this slingshot!! It is so much fun to shoot, my hand just feels perfect in the grip.

Cheers

Try to counter sink the clamps. The screws wont protrude which cant potentially damage your rubber. The flush inset screws in my opinion look more finished and professionally built.

Check out polymorph. There are some posts on this forum about this magical alien morph-able plastic.

It doesn't stink or put off toxic cancer causing fumes that PVC does.

Ive used this stuff a fare amount, let me now if you have any questions.

Welcome to the form.

I've been overthinking band clamps forever. As my fingers get older I appreciate any non-stress band attachment methods I can find!

Try making a fork then cut out your clips from the fork tips. (this way the clips match the curves and material of the slingshot.) Get some threaded inserts. They come in an array of sizes. Put the toothed female part in the recessed cut out on the fork tips, you drilled/carved out in the step I didnt mention. This will allow you to drill out the clip to put the screw in through it. This set up Ive found that works the best for me. You never have to worry about any slippage from the clips and you can unscrew it with out any worries about the fork getting stripped from using just a wood screw. I usually put 3 or so small nails or copper wire then trim the heads off the nails and or cut the copper wire very short so it bites into the rubber. Ive shot tubes from set up also.

I can post some pictures of this technique if you guys are interested.

I will admit that my Clips with wood screws word a test to see if the PVC clamps would work. I've always said I would upgrade to the threaded inserts but I've been using and changing bands for months with what I have and never had a problem so I didn't see the point in changing them since they're still working. You don't need to screw that tight has to strip out the wood screws. Maybe I'll switch to the threaded inserts at some point but having it any issue with my current setup.

I guess I'm not worried about them not looking so good since I'm not the best shot yet and that's what really matters.

What ever works for you buddy. I like clips so I was just sharing what worked really well on my pieces.

I enjoy making learning and sharing what I have learned as much as shooting. The comradery is a bonus.

Keep shooting and remember this is supposed to be fun, and accuracy will come before you know.

Shoot on and shoot often and be safe.

Thanks for that reply nsfc, yes good to share and find new ideas. I got my hands on a chronograph and M testing many different tapers and band thicknesses 2 find the ultimate hunting setup or am I different slingshot. Good thing I make my own pouches because I've had to make 10 pouches to go with my 10 different tapered band combos. Hope everyone has a great weekend

Find what works for you, then simplify.

Please share what your figures calculate to.

I find cheap leather at good will or salvation army stores.

Purses come in many interesting colors. Plus you get to laugh at the funny looks from the cashiers.

Haber freight has thick red leather gloves on one side and gray on the reverse. a package of a coupe for cheap.

. :screwy:

I like your style.

Yes definitely Harbor Freight, I bought the $6 pair of slightly heavier leather gloves in extra extra large and calculated I could get 80 pouches out of it!? I definitely used some of those to make around 12 different band sets at one time so I could swap them out quickly Well testing.

Found the best taper cut got 290 ft per second at 36 in draw length!
