So my range is a dual purpose range, a giant dirt mound that I shoot firearms and my slingshot both, so sometimes my misses unearth projectiles from my guns..the weirdest I think I've shot is a once fired 90 grain .380 auto projectile. It surprising was very accurate and put a good thump on my hard monster water/energy thing bottle.

A can lid when I was a kid... Lucky for me it was a wrist braced slingshot with a metal bar for the brace as the lid clanged off said bar instead of burying into my arm.. also tried #8 shot in a plastic baggie, most of which was returned to sender, thank God for eye pro.

Recently I have been having success with Gobstoppers, they are fun to use to plink at cans with and are totally biodegradable. :)

Gob stoppers are a pretty good idea. As far as shot goes I did try some #1 Buck to less than stellar results (I need bands more suited to something that small I think) but overall I don't think it was worth scrapping the 16 Gauge I cut them out of.

Welcome to the forum!

I enjoy shooting with kids so I am always looking for fun safe ammo. Paint balls for sure. Puff balls made from yarn and marshmallows w/ very light bands to teach the basics. Gummy bears, chick peas, acorns, jaw breakers, M&M's.

Saunders' Clod Poppers are the ammo of choice for a field course with salvaged pots and pans for targets. Clod Poppers are the best clay ammo - very consistent, 1/2 inch so easy to handle, environmentally friendly, and makes a great sound when it hits the metal pots and pans.

I used to make fletchettes from roofing nails and jute twine.

Somewhat off topic, my godson made mudballs for me to launch from my shepherd's sling.

Shepherd's sling is such an awesome weapon, I need to make me one. I'm thinking I need to find me some clay and start making some clay balls. Figuring out how to bake them should be fun.

Go to Slinging.org for all your slinging needs.

Very easy to make w/ paracord and nylon webbing. Lately, I started weaving them from jute on a simple table loom. I launch golf balls for distance. Others are accurate enough to hit targets.

My wife is a sculptor so I get her scrap clay. I would rather be shooting, so I just buy a bunch from Saunders Archery.

I was shooting porcelain pellets for a while. I got them from an old laboratory where they were used to prevent boiling in chemicals. I looked up the price once for a box and they're about $280 for a hundred. Maybe not the most unusual shaped projectile, but definitely the most expensive.

Walnuts make nice ammo if you are willing to get a special setup with an extra wide fork, an extra large pouch and bands that are on the weak side (the nuts fly wicked curves if you shoot them beyond a certain speed).

They fly apart quite spectacularly when they hit a hard target.
