Roger's theory is that the rotating head automatically ensures the forks are perpendicular to the path of the ammo/bands. He made these heads for both regular and extended forks.

I made one of his 24-50s in plywood. I still shoot it for fun occasionally. With the extended forks, you can see that it is a challenge to keep everything aligned. That said, I have 3-inch wide fixed forks on mine and have never had a fork hit! Knock on wood!

Fixed forks are simple, and work well.

Rotating heads are more complicated to build, and (in some opinions at least) work marginally better.

Here's a link to a discussion with pretty objective info: https://slingshotforum.com/topic/98658-rotating-head-slingshot/

As I will never have a chance to shoot one would you explain further please.
About to start project and searching all
info.
I ponder swivel fork but maybe a reason
To go fixed?

I was inspired by Roger's work and made a few of my own. The rotating head is a challenge. But I like a challenge!
I use bearings placed in a sleeve to make the rotating part.

I do find that it can help with accuracy, keeping the fork square to the target regardless of the angle it's held.

But for me an added benefit is being more comfortable. I can rotate my wrist to the angle that's most comfortable for me and the fork remains square to the target!
