Which tubes suit which ammo?

Has anyone done any testing on this to best match tubes to ammo size? When i say 'best' i mean highest FPS.

I shoot face anchor.

Thank in advance. The only tubes i've ever shot were years ago in a fishing bait catapult.

Don't think you'd get a straight answer on that one as its very much personal preference - and how much 'slack', power, use etc. you like in your bands...

Just as a rough guide - for around 30-32" draw and like 480% stretch - though 1632 seems to have a little more than some others.

1632 - 1.77-6mm

2040 - 6mm-9.5mm

1842 - 9.5mm - think this is what you are after if shooting 9.5mm

1745 - 9.5+ (Though for me starts to be a little on the heavy side)

Also its worth mentioning pseudo tapers - can get some good extra speed out of those.

Henry the Hermit did some chrony testing - its somewhere on the forum.

Thanks Matt. Appreciated. I'll get some 2040 to try with 8mm BB's.

How do you achieve pseudo tapers?

I shoot a lot of 3/8" steel, some for target, and some in hunting mode. I use looped Kent #303's are they are very good, but two tubes that really stand out for me are 2040 looped and the new 1842's looped. I have just recently been playing with the New Gen 1842's with a 6.5" active length and a 32.5"+ draw length and I can say without a doubt, it REALLY sends 3/8" steel .. It also REALLY sends 5/8" marbles or 7/16" steel. This stuff is a monster, and would be my go to hunting tube with 3/8' or ammo in the 80-100 gr area !!

2040 is also very, very good and lighter to pull, yet sends 3/8" very well.

Do yourself a favor and get the "New Generation" of either and you will be very happy !!

Hey wll, is the 1842 much lighter to pull and hold than the 1745? Cheers.
1745 definitely pulls heavier than 1842.
Cheers because I find that the ball keeps slipping out of my hand with full looped 1745 tubing and it's annoying.
