World Record Attempt at the Shoot

So, as many of you know, I've submitted an application to Guinness for the "Most Cans in a Minute with a Slingshot" world record. The video I made didn't meet the guidelines for a number of reasons but I did finally hear back from them today. I recieved a whole list of stipulations that have to be met for a record to count and many of them include witnesses and venue. The upcoming ECST will work great for such an attempt to meet their guidelines.

I have and will bring with me a bunch of forms that have to be filled out and the list of requirements for the record. I know for sure that I'll be attempting to beat the record (which now stands at 12) and I'm inviting the other Quick Draws that will be in attendance to join me. You'll have to start your own application but if you succeed at beating the current record (and any subsequent numbers put up in Alverton) then the rest is just a formality and a wait.

I'll be bringing a trash bag full of cans, I'd like to ask anyone who's able to bring two or three sawhorses, a couple of long 2x4s and more cans. I'll also have my camera and tripod.

Let's do this! Who else wants to play?

I don't have any available saw horses but am willing to go pick up some cinder blocks and 2x4s. 20cm spacing between cans right? let me figure up what kinda space is gonna be needed and I'll get back with you.

Anyone who does have saw horses or something similar to bring please chime in.

K. I'm back after a bit of quick figuring.

If the 20cm spacing between cans is correct, I figure we can get 9 cans on one 8' 2x4. so 2 2x4s should be enough room for 17 to 18 cans.

Three blocks(or three saw horses) could hold these up.

None of this happens without a camera!

I was out practicing again tonight for this. The most cans I can set up on my stand at one time is 7 so what I do is set my timer for 32sec (the extra time because I'm starting it myself) and try to shoot them all down before it goes off. I can hit six routinely, seven often and eight or nine (hitting them on the ground after knocking them off) once in a while.

I know that seven in 30sec doesn't automatically mean 14 in a minute since I have to reload once in that time but I still feel pretty good about it. Anyone who wants to spectate should be prepared for it to take a few attempts, though

Get as many cameras and angles as possible, with some kind of interview content with yourself and other notables. I volunteer to do some simple video editing of multiple viewpoints if you don't have a better offer from an expert.
