I almost added to the Clip or Not to clip post, but decided not to.

I remember well the first time I watched PalmettoFlyer do a wrap and tuck while talking to me. All free hand. I clamped forks to a table to get it done.

I was reading the Clip or Not to clip, and I realized I was doing a wrap & tuck freehand. I cut some black latex to use.

Thanks to the many people who have answered my questions.

LOL, never knew you were supposed to center them!

Actually, wide tips allow you to fine tune the Fork Width and anchor points. You can tweak the anchor location by how you put on your band. Meaning that you can simply adjust the fork width 4-8 mm by where you tie the bands. If you don't think that matters, give it a try.

Good example is the Wide Gap Bonegrip frame. It is ~110mm wide to the outside fork tip edges. With the bands tied to the outside edge, the aim for me is several inches above the target point. With the bands tied to the inside edge, the result is the frame shoots like a 98mm wide fork. Which for me is spot on target with my aim and anchor.

Now we are getting into the meat and potatoes....The two biggest questions I still have after 8 years is:

1. Do you center flat bands for OTT or TTF?

2. What does the distance between the fork have on the end result of getting shot down range?

I figured that was what you were paying a custom maker to figure out. I figured Bill had already done that for his Scorpion, for instance. I figured John had already figured out the best distance between the forks for his Mustang model. I figured what made it custom was the customer's hand size and materials.

Hi I have been using these little rubber bands from several vendor's from China, and the seem to work great. I have been using them to any 6 months without any problems. They come in different sizes, the pics show small, and different tensions. I like them because once you get them stretched over the forks it is easy to roll over the band's once placed.

Do you have a link for where you got these?

Yeah, those appear to be the same type of rubber that we used to band young billy goats (remove their testicles. You use a tool like this one and stretch those rubber cheerios out and over the works... release tension, leave the band. The whole thing dries up and falls off like an umbilical cord.) You can get them at any farm goods type place.

Anyway, sorry to interrupt, what was it you guys were talking about? Line Font Auto part Elbow Drawing

Can you get those on by hand? Seems worth a try but how do you keep the tool from damaging your forks? Seems like it would cause some pretty bad scratches.
