Not you, my 7 year old daughter. Today she asked me for a new slingshot since the dogs chewed up her last one. It's a Lil' Ranger design customized with purple, yellow and blue marker by her. Bands are red crepe chained 222. Yes, she's holding it backwards in this picture, I'll make sure she holds it the right way to shoot

The way she is holding it makes me wonder if she is acquainted and averse to band slap.
May I suggest safety glasses? Those are needed even when pulling the bands without ammo. A snapping band can take an eye, never a good thing.

You can't see it in the picture but the way I have it tied it can't handslap when held the right way.
Well, it's good to see there are a few children who are interested (and parents capable of the impossible by planting the seed). Mine wouldn't go outside or do something like this if you threatened their lives! So I just do my own thing now......very sad.
Start them young and you have a chance it will last. I started my two sons at fishing and hunting when they were around 5 years old, one is still an avid fisherman todayat 40, the other occasionally. My Grandson, now 27 is an avid hunter, fisherman and is now didling with the slingshot. You nerver know. Grandaughters all love to fish. The old saying that "A kid that hunts, traps and fishes doesn't mug little old ladies" rings true.
